DAVIS LOVE III NAMED HONORARY TOURNAMENT CHAIRMAN

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC (Thursday, Feb. 23, 2023) – Heritage Classic Foundation is proud to announce that five-time champion Davis Love III has been named the 2023 RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing Tournament Chairman.

Traditionally, the tournament chairman is a member of the Heritage Classic Foundation, but to celebrate the 55^th event, the Board of Trustees asked a past champion with a big connection to the number five.

Love has played in the tournament a record 33 times, making 22 cuts. He was just 23 years old when he won in 1987 and still holds the record for being the youngest champion. His FIFTH win came 16 years later in 2003, when he defeated Woody Austin in a sudden death playoff. During that time, he has also carded 10 top FIVE finishes and he was FIVE years old when his father competed in the first Heritage back in 1969. On Thursday of tournament week, he will start the last year in his FIFTIES, blowing out 59 candles on his birthday cake.

The Sea Island resident and University of North Carolina graduate has earned 21 victories on the PGA TOUR and was the 2022 Presidents Cup captain. He also captained the 2012 and 2016 Ryder Cup teams and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2017.

Love’s duties as tournament chairman include attending opening ceremony and the Pro-Am Draw Party.
