HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC – Dustin Johnson, RBC’s newest brand ambassador, has committed to compete in the 50th annual RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing. South Carolina’s only PGA TOUR event is being held April 9-15, 2018 over the famed Harbour Town Golf Links on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.
Ranked #1 in the world and sitting 5th in all-time PGA TOUR career earnings, Johnson is the latest high-profile golfer to join Team RBC, including past RBC Heritage champions Matt Kuchar, Brandt Snedeker, Graeme McDowell and Ryder Cup Captain Jim Furyk.
“Dustin’s unique and natural talent on the course, combined with his high caliber of play, makes him an ideal Team RBC ambassador,” said Mary DePaoli, EVP and Chief Marketing Officer, RBC. “He shares our commitment to hard work, strength and determination – and we’re happy to have him on our team.”
Dustin is coming back to South Carolina to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the RBC Heritage. The 17-time PGA TOUR champion was born in Columbia, South Carolina and attended Coastal Carolina University. He was named the 2016 PGA TOUR Player of the Year and has already earned his first victory of the season at the Sentry Tournament of Champions.
“Celebrating 50 years is a major achievement,” said RBC Heritage Tournament Director Steve Wilmot. “Celebrating 50 years with the #1 golfer in the world makes it even better. Our fans and sponsors can’t wait to welcome Dustin home to the Palmetto State.”
Dustin has not competed at Harbour Town since 2009. As an amateur, he played in the Players Amateur, a world ranked event held in Bluffton, South Carolina and operated by the Heritage Classic Foundation.
“I am excited to get back to my home state to help celebrate this important milestone,” said Dustin Johnson. “The RBC Heritage means so much to Hilton Head Island and South Carolina.”
