HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC - Friday, February 12, 2021 — Heritage Classic Foundation is proud to announce that Duane Parrish, Director of the South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism, has been named the 2021 RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing Tournament Chairman.
Duane has dedicated more than 40 years of his professional career to the hospitality industry, including extensive experience in hotel property management and development throughout South Carolina. He became a member of the Heritage Classic Foundation Board of Directors in 2011.
“Under Duane’s leadership as Director of SCPRT, South Carolina’s tourism industry has enjoyed seven consecutive years of record-breaking economic growth (2013 – 2019),” said Simon Fraser, Heritage Classic Foundation chairman. “That positive development across the state, helps the RBC Heritage be successful here in the Lowcountry. We appreciate the knowledge Duane is able to share with the Heritage Classic Foundation.”
A graduate of the University of South Carolina in Business Administration, Parrish has served as an adjunct professor at the College of Charleston and Trident Technical College teaching hotel management and hospitality courses. He is a former Chairman and active member of the South Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association. Parrish also serves on the Board of Directors of the US Travel Association and is the Immediate-Past Chair of the National Council of State Tourism Directors. In 2019 he was named State Tourism Director of the Year by the US Travel’s National Council of State Tourism Directors.
Parrish’s duties as tournament chairman include acting as master of ceremonies at opening and closing ceremonies.
