HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — South Carolina native Wesley Bryan will be back to defend his title at the 50th RBC Heritage Presented by Boeing. South Carolina’s only PGA TOUR event is taking place April 9-15, 2018 on Hilton Head Island.
Wesley made the announcement at Monday’s Media Day held at the famed Harbour Town Golf Links.
Wesley grew up in South Carolina, attended Dutch Fork High School in Irmo and played golf at the University of South Carolina. He grew up attending the RBC Heritage and watched his dad compete in 2004. He also competed in the Sea Pines Junior Heritage and the Players Amateur, both are sponsored by the Heritage Classic Foundation.
The 2017 tournament was Wesley’s first start at Harbour Town and he began the final round three shots out of the lead. He edged Luke Donald by one shot to become the first South Carolinian to win the RBC Heritage in its 49-year history. He is only the sixth player to win the tournament on his first attempt. He went on to card four additional top-10 finishes during the 2017 season and finished 41st in the FedExCup standings.
